UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary supports UNICEF operations globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology.
The Enterprise Content Management (ECM) project’s goal is to take a systemic approach that introduces and institutionalizes Electronic Content Management (including systems, policies, procedures, standards, guidance, and governance), providing improved document and records management and retention, improved search functionality, strengthened archives management, a new digital preservation capability, content reuse and repurposing, and collaboration across UNICEF. The project also seeks to reduce risks, improve usability of tools, provide significant cost and time savings, enable new organizational capabilities and comply with several audit recommendations. These goals will be implemented in keeping with the organizational strategy and information management requirements of stakeholders in various business areas.

How can you make a difference?
The purpose of this consultancy is to support all business areas throughout UNICEF’s offices, through the content migration process.
The Communications Specialist will have day-to-day supervision of the Content Migration Consultant, while the efficacy and outcome, along with the project plans will be jointly overseen by the Communications Specialist and the ECM Senior Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform a document inventory of Shared Drives (SDs), SharePoint Libraries, and other file repositories
• Implement the ECM-recommended naming convention on existing content
• Implement the ECM-recommended folder structure on Shared Drives
• Analyze content with support from the ECM team and the local Subject Matter Experts and Content Owners
• Migrate content as approved
• Other tasks as needed

Deliverables:
• Content is mapped and prepared for migration to the ECM solution
• Business areas are supported in a collaborative manner in line with ECM project goals
• Participate in regional and country discussion forums
• Migrate all content as approved by business owners to ECM system for go live date

As an advocate for every child, you will have…
• A university degree in information management, computer science, or data related field or equivalent experience
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience working with unstructured or structured information
• Strong attention to detail
• Solid training skills/experience
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain work relationships
• Strong interpersonal and listening skills
• Understanding of SharePoint desirable
• Working knowledge of other UN language such as Spanish or French, will be considered an asset.
• Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.

Location and Duration
• This consultancy will be performed on UNICEF Premises in Budapest, Hungary.
• The duration of this assignment is 6 months.

The Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives at Central European University is inviting applicants to the position of Chief Archivist. OSA (https://www.ceu.edu/unit/osa ) is one of the most important Cold War and human rights archives in the world. OSA, one of the initiators of the Budapest Open Access Initiative, is fully committed to free and open access. OSA is looking for a highly talented, innovative, socially committed and technologically skilled person with foresight and impeccable integrity.

OSA invites professionals, who are passionate about new archival and library theories, technologies, new trends in digital media, digital humanities, open access, and who are highly knowledgeable about emerging IT solutions. We are looking for a good, dedicated person, who is a partner in turning archives inside out, to make sources of the past available to the wider public, who is open to intellectual, social and professional challenges and adventures.

The Chief Archivist supervises the professional staff, works closely together with and reports to the Director of OSA, and represents the Archives at professional bodies and fora (ICA, IFLA, etc.). This is an unusual opportunity for individuals interested in leading a highly dynamic, unorthodox and international professional activist community, with a special focus on working together with non-profit and intra-governmental organizations actively engaged in building open societies, protecting human rights. The Archives is working on new technologies and methodologies in authenticating documents, historical and forensic evidence. The Chief Archivist guides and advocates for the ongoing development of physical and digital collections, services, and programs to the Central European University community and the Open Society Foundations (OSF) Network globally. 

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide intellectual and technological vision; Supervise and lead technological innovation and digital preservation projects to continue the implementation of the trusted repository model for long-term open access to OSA collections;
  • Provide senior leadership in advancing progress of CEU's and OSF’s substantive and technological strategic goals
  • Supervise the metadata & digital curation initiatives to carry out a comprehensive program for access to OSA collections
  • Oversees and updates policies, procedures, and priorities for collection development, processing projects, access provisions for digital and physical special collections, creating a body of resources that supports OSA’s professional strategy
  • Promote awareness of the latest professional trends– and staff expertise into university teaching, research and learning activities
  • Develop partnerships to address issues and challenges facing archival and library collections, records management, and data curation in an uncertain digital environment
  • Participates actively in outreach activities

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate degree (preferably Ph.D.) in either information technology, or archival/library science, with demonstrated deep knowledge and interest in social sciences and humanities;
  • Experience in working in challenging position at an archival or memory institution;
  • Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise and lead the work of an international team of professionals;
  • Proof of innovative leadership in an academic-archival setting;
  • A persuasive and evolving record of intellectual accomplishments;
  • Good interpersonal and management skills;
  • User-oriented  approach as demonstrated by public programming, user education, and other community outreach activities
  • Proficiency in English, knowledge of another language of OSA’s main collections is an advantage: Russian, Polish, Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, Romanian or Bulgarian

Compensation:

The Open Society Archives seeks a dynamic, interesting individual for a Data Specialist position to implement its new archival management system and enhance the cataloging/processing procedures at OSA.

The Open Society Archives affiliated with the Central European University is an international research center and Cold War archive, founded by George Soros in 1995. It is member of the Open Society Foundations Network (OSF). The Archives with its vast multilingual collections on Cold War, Human Rights and Civil Society in Central and Eastern Europe constitute one of the world’s largest repository on recent history.

The Specialist will assist the Director and the Chief Archivist in processing and publishing online OSA holdings and expanding its digital services:

• Enhancing the intellectual control over OSA holdings

• Demonstrated knowledge of processing textual and audiovisual materials including descriptive techniques, international archival standards and good practices, and metadata standards in general.

• Supervising temporary staff and/or interns in processing, cataloging, data curation activities and assigning/monitoring the tasks to ensure efficient and productive workflow

• Coordinating development projects: gathering requirements, needs, running user acceptance tests, producing system documentation and working closely with the ICT staff

· Working knowledge of software systems related to repository, management, access and preservation such as Drupal, Dspace, Fedora, Islandora, Hydra, Archivists’ Toolkit, Archives Space, Archivematica, and MetaArchive.

· Knowledge of XML, HTML, databases, XSLT. Experience with XML and related technologies, TEI, EAD scripting, Ruby on Rails; knowledge of linked open data issues and the semantic web

• Acting as quality controller and providing consultation, training to OSA staff and researchers

• Liasing with CEU and OSF staff and participating in information management projects upon request

• Documenting the state of the art, updating policies and procedures under the guidance of the Chief Archivist



Conducting research on web technologies, user studies, digital preservation and semantic technologies

Qualifications:

•Master degree in archival and information science, or a related field and at least 3 years intensive experience of work in archives, information management.

•Knowledge of 20th century East-European history, or related field preferred.

•Several years’ experience supervising and managing projects

•Knowledge of archival arrangement and description practices and metadata standards

•Knowledge of digital asset management systems, archival management solutions, digital library or repository software

•Ability to work independently and as a team member, exercise good judgment and initiative, and manage sensitive material in a confidential manner.

•Excellent command of English

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

The Open Society Archives seeks a dynamic individual for a short-term Project Archivist position to process and describe the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Russian Broadcast Archive, consisting of thousands of hours of digitized broadcast recordings.
The Open Society Archives affiliated with the Central European University is an international research center and Cold War archive, founded by George Soros in 1995. It is member of the Open Society Foundations Network (OSF). The Archives with its vast multilingual collections on Cold War, Human Rights and Civil Society in Central and Eastern Europe constitute one of the world’s largest repository on recent history.
The Audio-visual Specialist will assist the Chief Archivist in managing, processing a major collection devoted to recorded sound (in digital) and the daily administration of the Russian collection which might include:
• Enhancing the intellectual control over legacy broadcast collections
• Demonstrated knowledge of processing audiovisual materials including descriptive techniques, international archival standards and good practices, and the provisions necessary for public service including reproduction requests, rights management.
• Creating the finding aid to the collection following in-house guidelines.
• Supervising temporary staff and/or interns in processing activities, assign tasks and ensure efficient and productive workflow.
• Assisting Chief Archivist in acquiring additional related collections.
• Providing reference service for the collection in consultation with the Reference Staff.
• Acting as liaison with RFE/RL administrators and Hoover Archive staff.
• Work closely with Digital Archivist and Senior Audio-Visual Archivist in implementing digital preservation policies for digital audiovisual collections.
Qualifications:
• Master degree in library and information science, audio-visual archives, or a related field and at least 3 years intensive experience of work in archives, libraries.
• Knowledge of 20th century East-European history, or related field preferred.
• Several years’ experience supervising and managing projects on broadcast/ audiovisual collections
• Knowledge of archival arrangement and description practices, digital preservation good practices and metadata standards
• Knowledge of digital asset management systems, preservation repositories, digital libraries
• Ability to work independently and as a team member, exercise good judgment and initiative, and manage sensitive material in a confidential manner.
• Native Russian and excellent command of English
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
Compensation:
Commensurate with experience. However, we offer a competitive salary, as well as a dynamic and international academic environment. This is a full time position for a fixed term of 5 months.
