Objective of the traineeship
Within Information Management Division (IMD), the Archives and Records Management team is responsible for the effective day-to-day support, maintenance and retrieval of physical archives.
The objective of the traineeship within the Historical Archives Services is to provide practical experience in archiving, records management and to offer you the opportunity to assist the Historical Archives Services in contributing to various initiatives for the occasion of the EIB's 60th anniversary.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Archives and Records Management team you will work as an Archivist/Information Management Specialist.
Your main tasks will be to:
- Assist the Historical Archives Services in identifying archival material of potential high interest in the context of the academic work currently being undertaken in collaboration with the EIB and the Mezzogiorno of Italy;
- Prepare digital press release collections for public access including the conversion to PDFA format;
- Assist in preparing an EIB internal online catalogue:
- to give greater intellectual control over the collections and widen access to collections of the EIB archives through the EIB and HAEU website;
- to enable identification of preservation/conservation needs;
- to promote relevant archives to EIB staff enabling and improving access to corporate knowledge and build corporate identity.
Academic qualifications and professional skills
- Final year of studies or Bachelor degree in an Information Management/Archivist or other related discipline.
- Knowledge of Open Text Content Server (or Livelink 9.7) will be considered an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (Windows, MS Office, Web Browsers, Adobe).
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French.
