This position is funded for an initial period of one year and may be subject to extension.  Appointment against this post is on a local basis. External candidates will be considered only when no suitable internal candidate from the duty station is identified. Org. Setting and Reporting
 
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-HABITAT, is the United Nations agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable communities, towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all.  This post is located in the Knowledge Management Support Unit, Office of Management, UNHABITAT at the Nairobi Duty Station.
 
Responsibilities
 
Under the direct supervision of the Head, Knowledge Management Support Unit, the incumbent will perform the following functions:  1. Provide assistance to the management of Project Accrual and Accountability System (PAAS); Support training workshops on PAAS for all staff (Headquarters and out posted offices) and provision of user support, prepare training materials and manuals; Review and validate project information in the system as required and update Project Cycle Work Flows for implementation by the PAAS technical team.  2. Monitor the project business process in line with the existing procedures and policies; Assist with preparation of periodic organization reports and validate the information therein.  3.  Validate and upload the Agency's strategic alignment tools in the system i.e Work Programme and Budget, Millennium Development Goals and Targets and Substantive Thematic areas; Administer Project level access rights in the system i.e read/write access and PAAS System module analysis and testing.  4. Provide management support of the Audio visual Archives through processing the Audio Visual collection of UN-HABITAT according to format i.e. photographs, videos, films, and sound recordings; Randomly sample the Audio visual Archives and arrange for migration of the same as a preservation mechanism; List and catalogue the Audio Visual collection and develop a database for their easy referencing and retrieval and prepare finding aids for the audio visual archives and post the same on the organization's Intranet and public site and attend to reference requests for the audio visual archives; Manage the organization's Photo Archives and attend to requests for the same ensuring that staff and clients from other organization and media agencies are provided with the appropriate guidelines. 5. Provide assistance in the management and administration of UNHabitat Intranet (HABNET) Manage users' access rights and levels for system control purposes and attend to support requests; Manage content on the intranet by ensuring correct postings in conformity with documents categorize; Carry out quality check on the intranet including content validation, broken links and liaise with technical staff to resolve the same. 6.  Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

• Technological Awareness: Ability to understand ERP technology to be able to provide support to staff as required. Familiarity with PAAS or other compatible large scale Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is highly desirable.
• Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively; Listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately to be able to support staff training.
• Teamwork: Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the expected goals; should be a team player who Solicits input from other colleagues and respects other's ideas and expertise.
 
Education
 
High school diploma or equivalent with supplemental training in Information or Social Sciences with additional skills in content development and web management or related field is required.
 
Work Experience
 
A minimum of five years work experience in relevant field with proven experience with ERP systems, web content management and Audio Visual Archives management.
 
Languages
 
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset.
 
Assessment Method
 
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which will be followed by competency-based interview.
